The solution to what would normally be waste ground!
EXCELLENT for areas with 8” of precipitation annually!
Crested Wheatgrass is a very long-lived perennial bunchgrass. It has an extensive fibrous root system that provides excellent winter hardiness and drought resistance. It is characterized by rapid early spring growth that is highly palatable, but its forage quality drops quickly after heading. Crested Wheatgrass can be utilized for hay or pasture and was bred in western Canada for harsh winter environments.

General Information
Crested Wheatgrass produces fair forage. As the grass matures, it becomes coarse, and protein content drops rapidly. However, it yields well and is highly palatable in the spring. It is extensively used for reclamation, stabilization, and erosion control, and is a primary component of our Dryland Pasture Mix.
Due to its ease of establishment, longevity, and broad utility, it is planted more frequently in the Intermountain West and desert southwest than any other grass species for dryland pasture, reclamation, and stabilization.
Adaptation
Crested Wheatgrass can be found on most rangelands of the Intermountain West. It is adapted to elevations from 2,500’ to 9,000’, performing best between 4,000’ and 6,000’. It prefers well-drained soils and is not adapted to poorly drained or heavy clay soils. It requires a minimum of 10” of annual precipitation and has fair tolerance to alkali and acidity.
